Shading Systems

Roller Shades

Single Shade

A single roller shade is a common shading system, using a single roll/piece of fabric.

Complete Blackout Shade

A complete blackout roller shade system uses a blackout fabric (an opaque fabric where no light can penetrate through the material) and blackout hardware components including side channels and headbox to completely blackout all light.

Dual Shade

A dual shade offers two coordinating fabrics in the one shading system. The benefit is to alternate between a sun screen fabric and a blackout fabric.
A sun screen fabric allows natural light and outlook with the added benefit of heat reduction, UV and glare control. The blackout fabric is a colour coordinating opaque blackout fabric for room darkening.

Tensioned Shading Systems

Guthrie Douglas Tensioned Shading Systems

Guthrie Douglas is the global leader in automated retractable shading systems for extraordinary spaces.

Tensioned Shading Systems use a unique spring mechanism that constantly holds fabric flat, deploy in any direction and intelligently adapts to the surrounding environment.

The systems are designed to disappear into their surroundings when not in use, harnessing the power of light and shade as positive architectural features.

External Shading Systems

Horiso Specialty Venetian Blinds

Horiso Australian made Specialty Venetian Blinds can be specified for external or internal use with the benefit of reducing solar heat gain, maximising the use of daylight, controlling airflow and providing privacy, making them an energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly shading option.

Specialty Venetian Blinds use aluminium or timber slats which can deploy for full window coverage, tilt from 0° to 130° for varying light filtration, and fully retract by way of manual, motorised or automation control.

The tilting slats provide the optimal amount of daylight, minimising the need for artificial lighting. Slats also preserve views and minimise air-conditioner usage by maintaining effective airflow and reducing overall solar heat gain. By controlling solar glare, our systems are also able to reduce eye irritation and improve computer screen visibility, contributing to higher comfort and productivity levels.

• Reduce thermal heat gain by up to 93%
• Optimise shading at varying sun angles
• Contribute to achieving a high environmental green building rating
• Prevent potential UV damage
• Provide years of reliable operation with minimal maintenance
• Offer various control options (manual, motorised and automated control)

Sunshield Rack Arm Louvres

Sunshield® Unique Louvres are the world leader in operable Rack Arm Shading Systems. Designed specifically for solar shading on sloped and shaped glazed areas, the tiltable non-retractable shading system is suitable for internal or external use in a range of slat sizes.

Sunshield® Rack Arm Systems use fixed support arms which hold aluminium / timber interlocking or overlapping slats which tilt from 0° to 90° by way of manual, motorised or automation control. The tilting slats provide the optimal amount of daylight, minimising the need for artificial lighting and air-conditioner usage by maintaining effective airflow and reducing overall solar heat gain.

Automation Systems

Climate Ready Engineering

CRE’s control systems are currently operating at One Sydney Harbour Tower 1, 2 & 3, Crown Towers, The International Towers and The Bond, all of which are represented in this photo at Barangaroo.

CRE is the solution provider of shading control systems for dynamic facades that are designed to integrate the building’s shading systems with the end user’s AV, HVAC, Building Management, Home Automation and/or Guestroom Management Systems to create customised zones for people within a space.
