The term fabric openness refers to how tightly a fabric is woven and how much light will pass through.
A lower openness percentage will result in less light being transmitted. 0% being no light transmittance at all (blackout).
A typical openness for a commercial office setting is between 3% – 5%
An openness for greater heat reduction, UV and glare control, e.g. west facing orientation – glazing with direct sunlight.
Used in all areas for heat reduction, UV and glare control while maintaining views, e.g. windows at all orientation – north, east, south and west.
Less need for heat reduction, UV and glare control and more importance on views/outlook, e.g. south-facing orientation and public areas.
